Be A Pirate
Step 1: Get Down With the LingoThere are a few choice phrases that go along with being a pirate. Ahoy is of course pretty standard. This can be used as a greeting like Mr. Burns from The Simpsons has been heard to say "Ahoy hoy". It can also be used as an exclamation e.g. "Land Ahoy!"
Arr Matey, is a useful term in pirate speak. You can nod and utter it in agreement or you can wander on up to a fellow pirate and say g'day with it. Matey can be added onto the end of most sentences and words. It works very well with Ahoy as a greeting.
Savvy has been made popular by Captain Jack Sparrow of Pirates of the Caribbean fame. This top word is used to make sure that others understand what you are saying…..Savvy?Avast means to cease and desist. A common phrase amongst pirates as there is always a fight and some need to tell some one to bugger off.
Step 2: Tools of the TradeThere are a few items that one really does require to be a successful pirate.
- Sword
- Cutlass
- Gun
- Compass
- Map
The first 3 are pretty self explanatory; you are going to be fighting and killing people who stand in your way of some good ole bullion so ye be needing your weapons.
The compass and map help you with the whole steering the ship thing, searching for treasure and just other random piracy acts.
Step 3: Mutiny on the BountyYou're not going to make a very good pirate if you don't have a ship. You can be the Captain or even a deck hand but without a boat ye be a land lubber.
Make sure your ship has a mast some sails and a crows nest. These are essentials for a good ship.
Step 4: AttitudeBeing a pirate isn't just about the aforementioned it is that and much more. You need the 'tude. Pirates are cool, suave, mysterious and dodgy. They cut corners, steal, lie, pretty much anything that sees them get a head and get the gold. You need a cut throat and can do attitude.
You need to like being active as there is a lot of hard work being a pirate, swinging from ropes, hanging from chandeliers, riding horses, running along the beach, swimming in the water, diving off planks and much more.
If you have all that then you are well on your way to being a pirate!
Savvy.
